Accra, Aug. 31, GNA - The Ghana Internet Governance Forum (IGF) has chalked success in creating awareness on internet governance issues and sustaining the discussions into the future.

Mr Eric Akumiah, the Coordinator IGF-Ghana, said the Ghana National IGF fully supports and implements the established procedures and criteria of the global IGF to be an open, inclusive and non-commercial event that applies a multi-stakeholder model during the preparations and the organization of the event.

He said IGF seeks to bring stakeholders together to meet and share experience on what they have been doing and collaborate where the need arises to develop the internet.

Mr Akumiah said this in his 2015 report at the just ended meeting of Ghana IGF, held on the theme: 'Building a Strong Multi-Stakeholder Model for a Sustainable Development of the Internet in Ghana'.

He said the Ghana IGF Secretariat would continue to work towards adopting a working document and opening of an IGF account to facilitate easy organization.

Mr Akumiah, who gave a detailed account of all financial transaction of the Ghana IGF, lauded Internet Society (ISOC) Africa and ISOC Ghana for funding their activities in 2015 with $2,000 and $3,500 respectively.

He said the National Communications Authority was very instrumental in providing funds to bridge the funding gap of the Organisation.

He expressed gratitude to all their sponsors for their contributions, which made their operations in 2015 a success story.
