Nana Onipamu Osei Kuffour I has been outdoored as the newly-crowned chief of Asantes resident in the Netherlands.

He sat in state to swear an oath of allegiance to the Asante traditional council in Holland as a call to duty and a promise to sincerely serve his people.

The event was attended by a cross section of Ghanaians from across Europe, including Nananom from other countries.

Nana Onipamu Osei Kuffour I and Asantefuo Hemaa of Netherlands, Nana Ama Serwah Nyarko I had earlier travelled to Ghana to confer with the Asantehene, the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace.

Nana Onipamu Osei Kuffour I was of the view that chieftaincy as a sacred institution whether practiced in Ghana or elsewhere should be a tool for the achievement of unity and progress.

“As Asantes, who have travelled from home and living in the Netherlands, we still owe it a duty to maintain the traditions enshrined in their culture. This is what portrays us as Ghanaians and for that matter Asantes. Our people back home need our financial, spiritual and emotional support. They see us as a privilege group who should be able to help them transform the society in which they live,” he stated.

Nana Osei Kuffour believes the task can be achieved when Ghanaians living abroad put resources together and draw closer to one another devoid of hatred, divisionism and rancor.

“We cannot disappoint Manhyia and Ghana as a whole,” he said.

Other sub-chiefs outdoored at the event include Gyaasehene, Nana Boamponsem; Adontehene, Nana Kwabena Opoku; Kontihene, Nana Appiah-Kubi; and Abakomahene, Nana Kwarteng Amanin.

The Chief Executive Officer of ROK Fm, Osei Kuffour Richie, who travelled from Ghana to grace the historic occasion, is excited at the unity of purpose of Ghanaians to drive development back home.

Among dignitaries in attendance was Nana Kwame Bonsu, Asante Akyem Agogo Akyempemhene; Nana Oppong Amoateng, Buoho Wiaso Krontihene; Nana Koo Nti, Ofinso Samproso Gyaase Hene; Nana Owusu Boateng Agyenim, Otumfuo Damponano Nkosuohene; and Nana Oforiwah Nyantakyiwah II; Asumgya Asokore Hemaa.
