GNA

Mankranso (Ash), Feb. 3, GNA - The Ahafo-Ano South office of the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) has distributed incentive packages totalling over 50 million cedis to its facilitators in the district. The items included 47 packets of roofing sheets, a sewing machine with a motor; pieces of wax prints were distributed among the facilitators selected from 39 communities.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the distribution of the materials at Mankranso, Mr Mathew Borgor, Ahafo-Ano South District Co-ordinator of the NFED said the decision to motivate the facilitators stemmed from their immense contribution towards literacy programme. He said through the performances of the facilitators, between 25 and 30 learners from each community have graduated and obtained certificates equivalent to the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Mr Borgor said the learners had been equipped to be able to read the Holy Bible, read the scale for weighing cocoa and are now engaged in income generating activities, especially maize processing as well as numeracy.

He appealed to the government agencies, non-governmental organisations and philanthropists for assistance to enable the division provide learners with eye problems with reading glasses to enable them function properly.

Mr Borgor urged the facilitators to continue to work hard so as to justify the confidence reposed in them.
