Anyone Calling For My Arrest Is ‘Unintelligent’ – Obinim

Any person who is demanding an apology from me or calling for my arrest for flogging my adopted children is unintelligent, Bishop Daniel Obinim has said.

The founder of International God's Way Church also indicated that he will not apologise for the act and for screaming at his wife in front of his congregation.

In a video which has gone viral on social media Bishop Obinim is seen whipping a teenage girl and her boyfriend with a belt allegedly for fornicating.

The congregation is heard cheering him on while he whipped the two. He shouted at his wife when she tried to intervene.

The video has attracted widespread condemnation and calls for Bishop Obinim’s arrest have been unrelenting.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur indicated in a Facebook post that her outfit has reported the matter to the Tema Regional Police.

The Domestic Violence and Victims' Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service has begun investigations into the matter.

Justifying the act on Multi TV's AM Show on Friday, the controversial man of God said 'his father Jesus Christ' directed him to flog the two after receiving direction from the spirit.

He added that the two church members are in his care, and the public flogging was his way of preventing them from going wayward.

I take care of the children and their families, as I speak with you the young man's mother and siblings live in my house. They are my responsibility, he revealed in Twi.

He believes the police have not arrested him because they are right-thinking people who support what he did.

Do you think they are stupid? Do you think they do not have anything doing? They are right-thinking people, the controversial pastor noted.
