Businessman granted 60 million cedis bail for fraud.

Tema, Feb 02, GNA -- A businessman at Adjei Kojo near Ashaiman who introduced himself as customs officer stationed at Tema and took 38 million cedis from a complainant under the pretext of paying for three auctioned cars at Ghana Publishing Corporation has been granted 60 million cedis bail with a surety by the Tema circuit court 'A'.

Musah Bukari pleaded not guilty and will reappear on February 29, 2005. DSP Robert Aganiba, prosecuting, told the court that in November 2004, the accused met the complainant at a hotel in Tema, introduced himself as customs Officer in Tema and gave his name as Derrick Osumanu. The accused told the complainant that he could assist him (complainant) to purchase some auctioned cars from Publishing Corporation premises, Tema.

Complainant accompanied the accused to the Publishing Corporation to inspect some of the seized cars at the yard and selected a VW Transporter, an Opel Astra and an Audi.

DSP Aganiba said Bukari collected 38 million cedis to start preparing the documents in Accra and went into hiding. He was traced to his hide out and arrested
