DCE appeals to schools to demarcate their plots of land

Nkoranza, Feb 01, GNA - Mr Kwame Amporfo-Twumasi, the acting District Chief Executive for Nkoranza, has directed officials of the Town and Country Planning Department and the Nkoranza District Assembly to prepare site plans for all schools in the town to curb encroachments.

Mr Amporfo-Twumasi's directives followed a complainant from Mr Takyi Gyan, the Assemblyman of the Nkoranza Electoral Area, that people are encroaching on land belonging to the Effa JSS. He cautioned that school lands were the property of the assembly and the state hence people who enter the premises without permission could be made to face the law.

Mr Amporfo-Twumasi stressed the need for assembly members, unit committees and traditional rulers to organise their people to demarcate plots belonging to schools.

He later presented 300 exercise books to the school. Mr Takyi Gyan, the Assemblyman of Nkoranzafie, urged the unit committee of the area to form a task force to check the activities of some unscrupulous persons who would encroach on the schools compounds to smoke "wee" and even defecate.

Mr Ben Akorsah-Barfi, the Headmaster of the school, expressed his gratitude to the District Chief Executive for the donation He complained about inadequate classrooms for the school and pleaded with the Nkoranza District Assembly to provide the school with a block of three classrooms. 01 Feb 05
