Twifo Praso (C/R), Jan. 13, GNA - A total of 4,000 people, were registered between September and December last year, for the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme in the Twifo-Heman-Lower-Denkyira District. During the period an amount of 288 million cedis was raise from registration fees.

Mr Emmanuel Badu, Scheme Manager disclosed this in an interview with the GNA at Twifo- Praso on Wednesday.

He described the pace of registration as slow, in spite of vigorous educational campaigns and expressed regret that most people in the formal sector especially, were not registering.

Mr Badu attributed the cause to negative comments being made about the Scheme by some members of opposing political parties, as well as the lack of field officers to collect registration fees.

He asked residents in the area not to pay heed to the propaganda and register to enable them to get quality health care.

The government initiated the Scheme to replace cash and carry system at the hospitals.
