PSI on salt to cover Edinaman Salt Industry

Elmina, Jan. 12, GNA - The President's Special Initiative (PSI) on Salt is to extend its coverage to the Edinaman Salt Industry in Elmina, to boost the socio-economic development of the area, Mr Alan Kyeremanteng Minister of Trade, Industry and PSI, has said. He therefore requested the management of the company, operated by the Edina traditional Council, to furnish his office with requirements for the necessary assistance.

Mr Kyeremanteng made the request when he paid a day's familiarisation visit to the Edinaman Salt Industry on Tuesday to acquaint himself with problems facing it.

During an interaction, the company's authorities told Mr Kyeremanteng that the Industry's salt pond, which covered about 158 acres, was facing marketing and financial problems.

Mr Kyeremanteng told them that Government had plans to bring salt producers under one umbrella for financial support, as well as improve their marketing avenues.
