New Takoradi, June 14 GNA - Fish mongers in the New Takoradi Community in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis, have called on the authorities to as a matter of urgency find solution to the fast degradation of the seashore to avert danger.

They said the shore has been eroded by the sea destroying the mud stoves for smoking fish.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the shore revealed that the sea is fast eroding the land and virtually entering the community leaving little space for the berthing of canoes after fishing expedition.

Madam Ama Tawiah, Chief Fish Monger told the GNA that the sea waves continue to cause havoc at the shore and sometimes dried fish on the mud stove or in ovens are washed by the current into the sea causing huge losses to the fish mongers.

She is therefore calling on city authorities to as a matter of urgency find solution to the situation to bring relief to the fishing industry.

With the fishing season booming around this period, fisher folks of new Takoradi are struggling with safe landing beaches and gradual erosion among other environmental challenges. GNA
