Akatsi North Assembly to mark Fourth Anniversary soon

Ho, June 2, GNA - The Akatsi North District Assembly would mark the Fourth Anniversary of its creation this month.

The Assembly was carved out of the erstwhile Akatsi District under Legislative Instrument 2161 in March 2012 and was inaugurated in June the same year.

A press release signed by Mr Gershon Gley, the Assistant District Coordinating Director, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the creation of the District did not only bring governance to the doorsteps of the people but also, 'massive and unprecedented accelerated socio-economic development' in the past four years.

It commended Assembly members, Unit Committee Members, Heads of the decentralised institutions and other stakeholders for their contributions towards the growth of the District.

The statement said the Management and Staff of the Assembly did well by transforming challenges of the Assembly into opportunities and delivered very well on the Central Government's agenda at the district level by ensuring transparent and accountable local governance, building a resilient local economy and expanding infrastructure, among others.

It said the celebration would be on the theme, 'Akatsi North District-Four years of Transformation in the context of Decentralisation and Innovative Leadership.'

It said there would be public account forums, clean-up exercises, non-denominational church services, a football match between the District and the Volta Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association.

A major durbar would be organised on June 28.
