Mankessim North Pentecost Church launches rural, community evangelism

By GNA

Mankessim (C/R), Dec 31, GNA - The Mankessim North District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, Rev. Anthony Yaw Kumi, has observed that the rush for the acquisition of wealth has made Christianity to lose its mission of winning souls for Christ.

He called on Church leaders to educate their members to understand and pursue the proper task bestowed on Christians by their faith. Launching the rural and community evangelisation programme of the Church at Mankessim, Pastor Kumi called on Christians to make evangelism their cardinal responsibility.

He said the best method of evangelisation was to use one's lifestyle to make unbelievers see Christ and believe in Him.

The District Pastor cautioned Christians to desist from leading "double lifestyles," one in and the other outside the Church. Pastor Kumi said when one gave him or herself to Christ, the one was saved from further sins and past wrong doings had been washed away. He said it was important that converts at crusades were given the necessary guidance and leadership to integrate into their new environment to prevent them from going back to their "old homes". Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, District Chief Executive for Mfantseman, in a speech read on his behalf called on Christians to support the government to transform the nation into a better place.

He urged them to register and support the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to have access to quality health-care. Mr Kwame Nkrumah, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, advised Churches to use festivals and other social gatherings to evangelise.
