Woman inflicts blade wounds on rival

Brakwa (C/R), Dec. 31, GNA - A 22-year old pregnant woman, Afua Nyamekye, who inflicted razor blade wounds to disfigure the face of a 24-year old woman, Abena Serwa and absconded has been apprehended and put before the Breman Asikuma Magistrate's Court.

Nyamekye, Housewife, who was arrested from her hideout after three days, has been granted bail in the sum of 10 million cedis to reappear before the Court on January 21, 2005.

Her plea was not taken as no charge was preferred but might face a possible charge of causing bodily harm, Prosecuting Chief Inspector Gideon K. Awuyeh told the Ghana News Agency.

Chief Inspector Awuyeh told the Court presided over by Mr Akwasi Asmah Asiedu that Mr Eric Kwasi David, an Electrician, had proposed marriage to both woman, Nyamekye being the senior.

The Prosecution said at about 2000 hours on December 13, 2004 Nyamekye went and saw Serwa watching television in Eric's room and suddenly rushed on her and slashed her face with a blade. Serwa bled profusely, collapsed and was rushed to the Breman Asikuma Catholic Hospital, where she was admitted.
