The Book for Africa Project assists Koforidua Regional Hospital

Koforidua, Dec. 31, GNA - The Book for Africa Project, a none- governmental organisation (NGO), operating in Ghana and the United States, on Wednesday donated food items and a quantity of medical supplies to the Koforidua Regional Hospital.

The items and supplies include groundnut paste, 17 boxes of anti-bacteria hand wash liquid, a wheel chair, three walkers, four pairs of adjustable crutches and assorted medical supplies. Presenting the items and supplies on behalf of the NGO, the Manager, Mrs Hilda Bromley said though the group mainly distributed books to community libraries to enhance teaching and learning, it collaborated with a health related NGO to acquire the medical supplies to promote the health of the people.

She said the Book for Africa Project, had distributed medical equipment to the Koforidua St. Joseph Catholic Hospital, New Tafo Government Hospital, Kukurantumi Council Clinic and Sacred Heart Clinic at Kukurantumi to improve health delivery in the Eastern Region. Mrs Bromley announced that the NGO would distribute 36,000 books to selected community libraries including those at Somanya, Oyoko, Amanokrom, Bole and Mafi Mediage early next year towards the development of education.

Ms Gloria Ceasar, assistant Matron of the Regional Hospital, who received the donation, commended the NGO for supporting the health institution to delivery efficient services to the people. She gave the assurance that the donation would be put to good use to bring relief to patience who would visit the hospital.
