President urged to punish bad functionaries

By GNA

Assin Nsuaem (C/R), Dec. 27, GNA - The Assin South Constituency of the New Patriotic Party has congratulated President John Agyekum Kufuor on his re-election and urged him to be ruthless with any government functionary who misconducts himself or herself.

The Party congratulated parliamentary candidates who won their seats on the ticket of the NPP and urged them to be more committed to championing policies and programmes initiated by the government and the party.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Assin Nsuaem, Mr Samuel Mensah, Constituency Youth Organiser, expressed disappointment at the results of the last elections and said the NPP could have done better, judging from the achievements of the government within its first term in office.

Mr Mensah said the Party's "not too impressive" performance could be attributed to arrogance of some government functionaries and reminded them that people were watching every step that they took and therefore they should refrain from acts, which could tarnish the image of the party and the government.

He appealed to the President to nominate a District Chief Executive in time for the district, saying the problems of the district were numerous and needed a substantive DCE to plan for their solution.
