Ashanti PNC congratulate Ghanaians for peaceful elections

Kumasi, Dec 23, GNA-The Ashanti Regional Steering Committee and members of the People's National Convention (PNC) have sent a congratulatory message to Ghanaians for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves during the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The message issued by Mr Thomas Atigah, Regional Secretary of the Party in Kumasi, said: "We do not only congratulate his Excellency President J.A. Kufuor but also pray for God's guidance and protection to enable him run his full term of office successfully".

It said the PNC also recognised the role of the media for the able manner it handled issues before, during and after the elections, noting that the Electoral Commission also did wonderfully well and deserved commendation.

"We also acknowledge the invaluable and efficient service of the security agencies during the period."

The message called on Ghanaians to honour their civic responsibilities to help nurture the country's infant democracy. It urged media practitioners to help keep the nation united by avoiding irresponsible reports.

It wished the President and Vice President a Merry Christmas and a very successful tenure of office and Ghanaians peaceful and democratic governance.
