Accra, Dec. 22, GNA - The newly created Ga West District Assembly on Wednesday inaugurated a Market and a Lorry Station at Chantan-Alhaji near Achimota for residents within the surrounding communities to boost their economic activities.

The Market named, 'Farmers Market' and the Lorry Station were constructed on 20 plots of land acquired with the assistance of chiefs from the Ga Traditional Area.

Inaugurating the projects, Mr. Samuel Nii Attoh, the District Chief Executive said they began about three years ago with the land-fill site to serve residents of Mile seven, St. Johns and Dome.

He said the residents would longer travel long distances to purchase goods and all the traders now operating along the street at St. Johns would be re-allocated in the new market.

Mr. Attoh said provision of utilities, such as electricity and water would be made available at the market by the Assembly to enable the traders transact business longer periods.

He urged the traders to maintain good sanitary conditions to enable the Assembly to use monies for garbage collection to expand the market. Madam Sheila Ayorkor Botchway, MP-elect for Weija Constituency said the projects were initiated by the NPP government and appealed to the traders to take good care of them.

She thanked the people for electing her into Parliament and urged the traders to form associations to obtain financial support from the Government.

Mr. Andrews Ofori Kwarteng, Assembly Member of Mallam Electoral Area said the lorry station would start operating from Monday, December
