Photographer in court for allegedly inflicting wounds on his Wife

Accra Dec. 21, GNA - A photographer, who allegedly inflicted deep wounds on his wife's head, on Tuesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with causing harm.

George Amponsah pleaded not guilty and was granted five million cedis bail with a surety to reappear on January 14, 2005.

The case of Prosecuting Chief Inspector Emmanuel T. Boison was that Ms Mercy Adabor, a Hairdresser, is the wife of Amponsah with whom she has three children and was staying at Haatso in Accra.

The Prosecution said on the night of December 15, 2004, Amponsah returned from work and picked a quarrel with his wife for allowing their children to visit a nearby house.

He said after the quarrel, Amponsah asked the wife to pack her belongings and leave but she refused.

Chief Inspector Boison said Amponsah snatched a stick being held by his wife and hit her several times on the head and other parts of her body inflicting deep cuts on her head.

She reported the matter to the Police at Kwabenya and Amponsah was arrested.

The matter was referred to the Women and Juvenile Unit of the Police Service for further action.
