Ashanti Nasara Club congratulates President Kufuor

GNA

Kumasi, Dec 19, GNA---The Nasara Club of the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region has sent a message of congratulations to President John Agyekum Kufuor and Vice President Aliu Mahama on their re-election for a second four-year term. A statement issued by the cl ub and signed by the Public Relations Officer, Mr Ali Musah Zingi, said the victory was a vindication of the good governance practices, the respect for rule of law and sound economic policies pursued by the government during its first term in office.

It appealed to Ghana's development partners to ensure that funds pledged to the country were released on time to enable the government to carry through its development agenda. The statement reminded Ghanaians that with the elections now history, it was important that they all stood solidly behind the Kufuor administration to help bring about the accelerated progress envisaged under "Positive Change Chapter Two", the government's blueprint for the country's development.

It announced plans to liaise with the hierarchy of the NPP and strategise on ways to boost the appeal and support base of the party in the Zongo areas.

''Although we are happy about the decisive victory of the party in the just ended polls, we are not particularly impressed about our performance in those areas.''

"We believe that we must move fast to identify factors that might have accounted for our poor showing in the Zongo communities and remove them in order to ensure a more satisfactory performance in 2008."
