Special voting begins in Ashanti

Kumasi, Dec. 4, GNA - Special voting for security personnel and other persons who would be on duty on Tuesday December 7 began in all the 39 constituencies in the Ashanti Region on Saturday. Voting started smoothly in all the polling centres the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited in the Kumasi Metropolis.

Speaking to the GNA after touring some of the centres, Mr Samuel Yorke-Aidoo, Ashanti Regional Director of Electoral Commission (EC), said so far, no incident had been reported from the polling centres. He said one polling centre had been created for each of the constituencies in the Region for the special exercise. Mr Yorke-Aidoo, however, could not immediately give the number of people who were voting in the special exercise.

He said all the materials for the elections had arrived and everything was set for the smooth take-off of the elections in the Region on Tuesday.
