Kumasi, Dec 3, GNA- The zonal office of the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) in Kumasi has cautioned the public particularly those in Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo against consuming, "Doctor Nkrumah 'Nyame Na Aye Aduro' produced by Nkrumah Herbal Centre".

According to the Board though it had approved the product as a herbal drug with the brand name Nkrumah Bitters, the company adulterates the product with orthodox drugs.

A press release signed by Mr Joseph Bennie, the Zonal Officer, disclaiming the drug in Kumasi, said during a routine inspection at the production premises located at Chirapatre, in Kumasi, it was found out that the company adulterated the product with orthodox drugs such as Descortin (Dexamethasone) tablets, Proxican capsules, vitamin B complex tablets and multivitamin tablets.

The release said consequently, the board was not in a position to guarantee the quality and safety of Doctor Nkrumah Nyame Na Aye Aduro. The release has therefore advised the consuming public to desist from patronizing and consuming the drug produced by Nkrumah Herbal Centre.

It said the board was conducting further investigations into the counterfeit production of Doctor Nyame Na Aye Aduro and assured the public that it was taking the necessary steps within its statutory mandate to ensure public safety in this regard and at all times.
