Agona Swedru, Dec 2, GNA- An Agona Swedru Circuit Court presided over by Mr Charles Adjei Wilson, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Benjamin Appekey, a senior bailiff of the court for assisting an accused person to use fake documents as surety for 500 million cedis bail in a case before the court.

The issue of bench warrant arose when the attention of the presiding Judge was drawn by Mr Emmanuel Nadje, the Registrar of the court and Detective Sergeant R.A Boamah, the prosecution in a 338,570,000 cedis visa fraud case.

According to the Registrar, the senior bailiff had deserted his post since November 22, when the court detected that the documents presented by the accused Amos Baiden as surety were fake.

Baiden is charged with abetment of crime in a visa fraud of 338,570,000 cedis and was standing trial at the Court. Mr Wilson ordered the police to arrest and prosecute the bailiff for condoning and conniving with the accused person.

Baiden is alleged to have conspired with one Yaw Awusi, now at large to defraud Nana Ekow Arhin, Managing Director of Rings Travel and Tour Company of 338,570,000 cedis under the pretext of securing him visas for clients to travel outside the country.
