New Edubiase (Ash), Dec 1, GNA - The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has asked all political parties to abide by the code of conduct they had signed.

Mr P.H. Mensah, Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of the NCCE, also drew the attention of the parties to a clause in the code that prohibited the parties from bailing any of their supporters who would be arrested for an electoral offence during the elections.

Speaking at a workshop organized by the NCCE for political parties in the Asokwa and New Edubiase Constituencies in the Adansi South District, he said information reaching the Commission indicated that supporters of political parties did not know the contents of the code of conduct for the parties.

Mr Mensah described the situation where Regional Executive of the parties had not even seen the document as most unfortunate and appealed to all the parties to make available to their executive and supporters copies of the code of conduct.

Deputy Superintendent of Police P.A. Gamiah, Asokwa District Police Commander, urged the political parties to observe the Public Order Act that dealt with gatherings and political rallies. He said the Act enjoined political parties to inform the Police about an intended rally or gathering five days before the event to enable the Police conduct enough investigations before the event to ensure proper security.

Nana Asiama Guahyia Ababio, Edubiasehene, called for tolerance among all the political parties in the area.
