The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Bongo Constituency in the Upper East Region, Mr Andrew Awuni, has expressed grave concern about the continuous harassment, intimidation and violent attacks on some NPP activists by supporters of NDC in the constituency.

He alleged that within the past week, five NPP supporters, including some top officials had been assaulted by some NDC followers in Bongo.

Mr Awuni, a Deputy Minister for Information, who expressed the concern at a press conference in Bolgatanga yesterday, pointed out that the elections in Bongo were seriously under threat, owing to the current political brutalities and harassment being perpetrated by some NDC supporters.

The parliamentary candidate said all the assault cases had been reported to the police but only one arrest had been effected and accused granted bail while some of the perpetrators were at large.

According to Mr Awuni, the recorded incidents started just after the visit of former President Rawlings to the Bongo constituency, alleging further that hardly 24 hours pass without NPP posters being removed or defaced.
