The 1998 Old Boys of Bishop Herman College (BHOBU ‘98) have awarded scholarship to six brilliant but needy students of the school. This is part of measures to recognise and support students to improve academic excellence of the school and the nation as a whole.

The governance committee of BHOBU, following series of assessment, shortlisting and interview sessions, selected the best 6 out of 20 brilliant applicants.

Commenting on the financial and technical support the year group has for brilliant but needy students and the student body, 1998 President of BHOBU, Charles Edem Goh said “As Old Boys of this noble institution, it is always a pleasure to come back to our roots to make sure we impact the lives of the current generation from time to time. The scholarship package is partnership with AMPER, an Italian base NGO and this initiative will sponsor 6 students per academic year. Aside the scholarship package, members of the group with diverse human resources engaged the entire student population in a day’s mentorship session on the topic “beyond choosing a career”.

Mr Goh mentioned the group has over the year donated two split air-conditioners for the staff room and refurbished the school’s classroom windows in 2012 and 2014 respectively.

The Assistant Headmaster of the school, Mr Wilson Honu applauded the 1998 batch for their ingenuity, calling on other year groups to come on-board to support the school.
