Kufuor inaugurates two projects at Nyankpala UDS campus

Nyankpala (N/R), Nov. 23, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday inaugurated two projects at the Nyankpala campus of the UDS. The projects, estimated at four billion cedis and financed through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) at two billion cedis each were a two-Storey Lecture Hall and an Administration block.

President Kufuor said the government has envisioned the UDS to become the pivot of the country's development in the next decade and that his administration would continue to provide the needed infrastructure and facilities to realize the objective.

He asked the students to be proud for being part of the process to develop such a "practical university" for the country's development. President Kufuor who visited the campus on the first day of his five-day official tour of the Northern Region, asked the students to embark on an educational campaign on the election among the society to renew the mandate of the NPP.

He said results of the elections would confirm that Ghanaians had come of age with regard to democratic governance in the country. Pro. Saa Dittoh, Pro Vice Chancellor of the UDS, said many developments had taken place at the campus since 2001 and commended the government for the assistance especially in the provision of quality access roads and potable water.

However, he called for more infrastructure development to enable the University increase its student intake in future.
