Voters asked not to remain at polling stations after voting

Brofoyedru (Ash), Nov. 22, GNA - Reverend Father Andrew Amoakohene-Tawiah, Parish Priest of Saint Mary's Sanctuary of the Konongo-Mampong Catholic diocese at Buoho, has admonished the electorate, especially Christians to leave polling centres after exercising their franchise on the Election Day. He said there would be no need for voters to remain at the centres to indulge in any discussion or activities, which might lead to confusion or violence.

Preaching at a two-day Eucharist Mass celebration at Brofoyedru in the Kwabre District on Sunday, Rev. Father Amoakohene-Tawiah stressed that as Christians, they should not engage in any activity that would mar the elections.

The celebration was on the theme, "We Have Been Made Holy Through The Sacrifice of the Body of Jesus Christ Once And For All". The parish priest asked Christians to refrain from insulting leaders of the nation even when they go wrong.

"You have no moral right to insult leaders as Christians. You can speak or criticise their deeds but not to attack their personality", he said. He said it is through humility that Christ brought peace and it therefore behoved on all Christians to stay away from all acts that do not promote peace and tranquillity in the society.

He told the over 2,000 worshippers, especially the youth to desist from indiscriminate sex, drug abuse, hooliganism, lies, selfishness and pride and work hard to uplift their spiritual development and their economic standing.

Rev Father Amoakohene-Tawiah urged Christians to avoid broken homes and ensure absolute peace in their marital homes to merit God's blessings.

He urged the congregation to allow Christ to control their lives so that they can be free from all troubles, saying, " we can take stock of our lives and see why we are not progressing in life". 22 Nov. 04
