Accra, Jan. 29, GNA - Mr Ato Sarpong, Deputy Minister of Communications, has called on film makers to produce movies which would project the rich culture of Ghana and educate the younger generation about our history.

Mr Ato Sarpong made the call at a launch of Black Star Film Festival in Accra.

The Minister, in an interview with Ghana News Agency, said we expect movies to help change behaviours, entrench and preserve our culture.

He said movies, aside telling us the history of who we are, why we are here and what we are here to do, also offers us education and entertainment.

''I am particular about the movies that I watch, and before I watch a movie, I read the story behind the movie. Because I want the movie to educate me, I want the movie to tell something about my history and offer me inspiration to wake up every morning and go to bed at night satisfied that I have done something meaningful for myself, my family and my country'', he said.

He said some movies on the market seemed to be directing us towards that path and we all have to support them and the industry in general.
