Golden Star says media allegations are untrue
Takoradi, Jan. 27, GNA - The management of the Golden Star Resources Ghana Limited, a mining firm based in the Western Region has debunked media allegations that it is dealing with an illegal mining operator.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, to react to the allegations, Mr Gerald Boakye, Head of Corporate Affairs of the Company, said 'The Chronicle' newspaper's publication on January 22 followed with its 25th edition's editorial headline:'It's Official: Mining Giants Aiding Galamsey' was false.
He said the mining firm was a law abiding entity and undertakes due diligence before dealing with any third party.
He said: 'The company takes pains and goes through great lengths to undertake proper due diligence prior to its engagements and dealings with third party organizations, be they contractors, suppliers or service providers, to ensure that they are legitimate and responsible entities'.
However, Mr Boakye said the Company would not comment on its business transaction with Paul Willesey Company Limited because the case was in court.
He said the mining firm was listed on three international stock exchanges and all its operations conformed with best practices.
He asked all media organizations and corporate entities to disregard the said publications.
