"Flirting" NPP members would cease to be members-Botwe

Tamale, Nov. 15, GNA - Mr Dan Botwe, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has warned that any member of the Party who "flirts" with the opposition parties would automatically cease to be a member of the NPP.

He said it was improper for NPP activists to campaign for candidates who do not belong to the Party.

Mr Botwe said these during a three-day campaign tour of the Northern Region to assess the training programme organised for NPP agents in the Region.

He said the Party had provided all the necessary logistics and materials to enable their polling agents carry out their duties effectively.

He said 243 people from all the constituencies in the Region would be trained to serve as NPP campaign team foot soldiers, saying, "The party would also mount an effective electioneering campaign".

Mr Botwe urged all political parties to abide by their code of conduct to ensure that the 2004 Election was conducted freely and fairly.

He announced that the Party had improved on its logistics while copies of its manifesto had been distributed to all the constituencies for study to enable Party members to educate the electorate on the document. Mr Botwe indicated that several researches carried out by independent and competent organizations had shown that the NPP was poised to win the elections "hands down".

He cautioned politicians in the Region to be circumspect in their utterances in view of the volatile situation in Dagbon. Mr Botwe advised NPP Party activists to set campaign targets to ensure that the NPP won more parliamentary seats in the Region.
