Accra, Nov. 15, GNA - The National Democratic Congress Presidential Running Mate, Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni on Saturday asked supporters of the Party to stand firm to the Party's ideals and return it to power in December.

He said the NDC through its central philosophy of social democracy was determined to meet the needs of the poor and the vulnerable in the society.

Addressing an NDC rally at the Town Council Line, Park, Accra, he said: "The poor are at the core of our commitment and will receive the benefits that will accrue to us. Ours is not the property owning democracy of a few and selected elites."

He asked the Party members to continue to remain calm and exhibit exemplary behaviour even in the face of provocation from opponents. "NDC people love Ghana. We insists that Ghanaians should judge us by the high standards of sincerity and hard work through which the NDC achieved democracy, peace and development for this nation."

Alhaji Mumuni said it was the achievements of the NDC compared to the hardships Ghanaians were enduring under New Patriotic Party (NPP) Administration that informed the slogan: "Sankofa!" - Go Back For It. He said NDC's philosophy of social democracy should be preferred to the property owning democracy of the NPP.

Mr Joshua Alabi, Greater Regional Chairman of the Party, introduced Mr Basha Horsey, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Ablekuma Central and asked the supporters to vote for him.

Mr Iddrisu Haruna, National Youth Organizer, gave 10 reasons including the slashing of workers salary, the abortive IFC Loan and the collapse of Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) as reasons why Ghanaians should reject the NPP in Election 2004.
