Muslims urged to foster peace and stability

Takoradi Nov.15, GNA- Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister, has expressed the need for political tolerance to promote the peace and stability needed for rapid national development.

She said politics was about development and choices and not rancour. Madam Horner-Sam was addressing Orthodox Muslims in Takoradi, during the celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr festival, which climaxed a period of fasting by Muslims worldwide.

She said the importance of Election 2004, called for sober reflection and patriotism among the electorate to enable them make a wise choice.

In a related development, Maulvi Naveeo Ahmeo Aaoil, the Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, had asked revellers of Eid-Ul-Fitr at Effiakuma near Takoradi, not to engage in anti-social activities that would destroy the image of the religion.

He tasked stakeholders in the December 7 polls to ensure transparency and avoid all electoral malpractices to promote peace and stability. 15 Nov. 04
