Accra, Jan. 2, GNA - Reverend Father Titus Glover, Parish Priest in charge of St Ambruce Anglican Church at Dome in Accra, says it should be the aspiration of every Ghanaian to ensure that the 2016 general election is peaceful.

'Let each of us pray for a peaceful, free and fair elections devoid of acrimony and the good Lord will see us through as he had done since 1992, when Ghana returned into the fold of constitutional rule.'

Rev Fr Glover who was speaking to Ghana News Agency in Accra at the weekend said the critical vessel for peace is the mass media and so it behooves media practitioners to exercise caution in producing or reproducing what politicians say.

He cautioned against reckless journalism that plays on ethnicity, religion, chieftaincy or not guarded by responsible gate keeping.

Rev Fr Glover said it is in the national interest for the media especially radio to edit out pronouncements that have the tendency to undermine national cohesion.

'Politicians should know that it is God that crown kings and approach the quest for power with decorum, whilst upholding the values of inclusiveness, national stability, unity and above all the interests of the citizenry.

'There is no better place like home, Ghanaians should keep that in mind whilst stoking the embers of war and bloodshed,' he said.
