New Juaben Municipal Assembly's plan for the disabled

Koforidua, Dec 20, GNA - An estimated amount of 82, 979.94 Ghana Cedis has been allocated by the New Juaben Municipal Assembly to cater for people living with disability within the Municipality.

This is to enable the physically challenged in the Municipality have easy access to services provided by government.

This was disclosed at a Town Hall Meeting of the Assembly to account for its activities this year, and informed the people about the 2016 development plan and budget of the area.

Mr Kofi Amparbeng, a resource person at the meeting, said it was to seek the views, ideas and opinions of citizens to enable the Assembly and public officials serve the community efficiently.

He added that as part of the 2016 budget, the Assembly would embark on an HIV/ AIDS, malaria control, tuberculosis (TB) and sexual reproductive health programme, to ensure healthy living conditions for the people.

He disclosed that the Assembly would construct six 12-unit classroom blocks at the cost of GH¢ 1,000,000 in schools such as Nana Kweku Boateng Junior High, Seventh Day Adventist Senior High, and the Saint Agnes Roman Catholic Primary.

Mr Amparbeng said 30 brilliant but needy students in the Municipality would be given scholarships to help increase school attendance.

He said with funding from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), the Okome Dam and the road leading to the Okomeso, would be rehabilitated.

Mr Amparbeng said an amount of GH¢ 120,000 had been allocated by the Municipal Assembly to construct an 18-seater water closet for the people of Srodae to help improve sanitation.

He said the budget made provision for streetlights to be extended to newly developed areas in the community to minimize criminal activities.
