Transport Ministry, NRSC And Cheki Ghana Organize Safety Walk

The Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the National Road commission, Cheki Ghana and its agencies has embark on a safety walk to sensitize and educate drivers and the general public on issues confronting road safety within the Greater Accra region.

Speaking on behalf of the minister of Transport, executive director of National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), Mrs. May Obiri Yeboah disclose that the commission has intensify the road safety campaign at the various lorry station to sensitize and educate drivers on the need to avoid driving without a license, and also desist from careless driving to ensure that their vehicle are road worthy.

According to her the safety walk is being held across the regions to educate the public and drivers to ensure that there is accident free during this Christmas season across the country.

She calls on the general public to be advocate of road safety and work effective to strengthen the agencies so that information reaching the general public will be worth important.

Country Director of Cheki Ghana, Eric Amoako Twum, called on government to prevent any accidental vehicle that comes into the country and increase the quality of cars to prevent road crashes.

He said Government should provide more public transportation vehicle to ease traffic and road accident effectively and efficient.

Eric Amoako said this forms part of their social responsibility to sensitize and educate various stakeholders on the need to prevent road accident especially this Christmas season.

“The exercise in itself is good but I think what will make an impact out there is that the general public, drivers and other stakeholders and pedestrians will understand and appreciate the message we are sending across. He stated.

We are trying to create some kind of interest and awareness to prevent any menace of road accident on our road. He said.
