Kyirapatre (Ash), Nov. 5, GNA - Mr Steward Bonney, Editor of UK-based Nothumbrian Magazine on Tuesday cut the sod for work to begin on a 240 million-cedi Information, Communication Technology (ICT) centre for schools at Kyirapatre, a suburb of Kumasi and its environs. The project, which will be financed by a 'Nothumbrian Kyirapatre Appeal Project,' includes the construction of a large computer room and the extension of the existing library complex.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, Mr Bonney appealed to shipping agencies to support Non-Governmental Organisations to help ship educational such as computers, books and other learning tools into the country.

Mr Joseph Edusei, Co-ordinator of the Nothumbrian Kyirapatre Appeal Project, said the organisation was sponsoring four students in Senior Secondary Schools.

He said the Project last year constructed a block of six classrooms for the Kyirapatre Catholic primary school and has also completed another block of five classrooms for the Junior Secondary School. The organisation has already supplied 13 computers to the school and hopes to provide more after the expansion project, he added.
