Mallam footbridge: NDC government insensitivity towards the disabled worrying

To All, Ghana Government, National and International Humanitarian Aid Agencies, UN Agencies, International Non-Government Organizations, National Non-Governmental Organizations, Private Sectors and Individuals:

Today, the Network of Journalist for the Promotion of the right Persons with Disabilities in Africa (PROMOAFRICA), the whole disability movement in Ghana has sunk into the deep grief of sadness by the inability to factor the needs of persons with disabilities and the aged in this advance age by the Government of Ghana in the construction of the footbridge at Mallam Atta, one of the busiest highways in Accra.

This unbelievable omission by a government that prides itself in believe of social democracy has given a deep pain to PROMOAFRICA and the disability movement in Ghana.

This deliberate omission clearly demonstrates that the government of Ghana, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), policy makers and society in general has no interest about issues and wellbeing of Persons with Disabilities.

This level of insensibility shown by the government will have a devastating effect on mostly persons with disabilities, senior citizens, children, and pregnant women.

PROMOAFRICA, we are always alert and serious in taking information and a stand regarding the issue of persons with disabilities to stop any kind of discrimination towards them on the basis of disability.
