Ngleshie Amanfro installs new Chief

Accra, Dec. 5, GNA - Mr. Charles Nii Akramah Mensah has been installed as Chief of Ngleshie Amanfro by the seven recognised family heads of the community in the Ga-South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The 56 years old chief carries the stool name of Nii Akramah the second.

According to DCOP (Rtd) J.A. Adams, "the Stool Father, the chief and his elders had been installed with the consent, concurrence and involvement of recognized representatives of the entire people of Ngleshie Amanfro."

He said: 'like any Ghanaian traditional setting, Ngleshie Amanfro practices the chieftaincy rule where we have leaders such as the chief, queen-mother, stool father, Oshipi, Mankralo and others.

'These positions are occupied by people duly nominated, elected and installed after thorough screening.'

DCOP Adams said Ngleshie Amanfro originated from the Ajumaku Division of James Town and resettled at its current location by the government in 1978, due to the creation of the Weija Lake.

'We strongly feel that at this age and time of human development, Ngleshie Amanfro like any community that has foresight, needs analytic minds to steer the affairs of her people.

'For the foregoing I wish to congratulate Nii Akramah and his gallant brothers and sisters for demonstrating to all citizens of Ngleshie Amanfro that they are more than capable of handling the administration of Ngleshie Amanfro if granted the opportunity.' GNA
