Komenda JSS receives equipment to boost soccer

Komenda (C/R), Nov. 1, GNA - Mr Steve Cudjoe, a former pupil of the Komenda Junior Secondary School (JSS) 'B', now resident in the United States of America has donated sports equipment worth 1,000 dollars to his alma mater and two primary schools in Komenda at a ceremony at Komenda in the Central Region on Monday.

The items were made up of five footballs, three sets of jerseys, 13 pairs of boots and 15 goalkeeper's hoses, respectively.

Mr Cudjoe, who is the Project Manager of Global Children's Educational Project (GCEP), a US based Non-Governmental Organisation said the items were part of a sponsorship package from his organisation to promote sports in the country.

He said other educational institutions will also benefit from the package and that some schools in Accra have already benefited from the package.

Mr Cudjoe told the GNA Sports that he "felt obliged as an old boy of the school to contribute his widow's mite towards its development and pledged to continue to assist the school to develop academically and in sports".

Madam Mariam Baiden, Headteacher of Komenda JSS 'B' who received the items thanked Mr Cudjoe for his gesture and assured him that the items would be used to promote sports in the school.

Mr Amos Cudjoe, Headteacher of the Komenda Primary 'A' and 'B' schools also commended Mr Cudjoe and urged other old students to emulate his example to assist the school's with the needed equipment necessary for academic and other services.
