Re: The First Ever Ghana UK Political Party Debate By Ludwig Nii Jr

By NDC UK & Ireland Chapter

The above publication has come to the notice of the NDC UK and Ireland Chapter.

According to the organizer, Mr Ludwig Nii Jr, the reasons why the NDC did not turn up is poor. This is factually inaccurate. It is against this background that we want to set the record straight.

Mr Ludwig invited the NDC to participate in a debate in London on the 4th November, 2015 at no cost. The NDC agreed to participate.

We were later informed that we were going to be charged to participate in that debate, moreover, we realized that PPP owned radio station, which is being managed by Mr Kitty Yawson and has banned our South London branch PRO unfairly was the only radio station listed to broadcast the program.

We challenged these two decisions .Mr Ludwig decided to allow more radio stations to broadcast the program, however, the payment for members who would be accompanying our speaker wasn't negotiable. We realized that the main aim of the debate was not to give Ghanaians in the diaspora the opportunity to know the policies and programs of political parties in Ghana but to make money and as a matter of principle decided only to participate at no cost.

In the past, different organizations have organized such programs without charging political parties to participate; however, they seek for sponsorship rather than charging participants to take part.

We the NDC UK and Ireland Chapter have been debating on most radio and TV stations in the UK on the daily basis and are willing to debate on any platform at any time, however, we will decide where and when to buy airtime to propagate the policies, programs and achievements of the NDC.
