Vote the Neo-Colonialist NPP Out - JJ

Accra, Oct 26, Lens -- The Ablekuma South constituency of the NDC last Saturday held what was supposed to be a mini rally to launch the party's campaign in the constituency, at Karikari-Brobbey, a suburb of Accra.

In the end, what was planned as a mini rally turned out to be a major event when word spread through the constituency like bushfire that President Rawlings and Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings were at the rally.

The fact that the NPP was at that very moment actively in the process to launch its national campaign at Mantseagbonaa, which is literally next door to Ablekuma South, which one would have expected would draw people away from a mini rally by an opposition party, the people turned out in their numbers to manifest their support for the NDC and the party's parliamentary candidate, Nii Adamah Morrison.

When President Rawlings took his turn to address the rally, he urged the people not only to turn up in their numbers to vote on polling day, but to remain vigilante and police the whole process to ensure that the integrity of the electoral process is not compromised in any way to enable any form of rigging to take place.

He told the teeming crowd of supporters that the Kufuor-led NPP regime is a typical example of the neo-colonialist government that the first President of this country, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, warned about.

He recalled how the forebears of the NPP fought against Dr. Kwame Nkrumah when he was engaged in the struggle for independence for this country.

He explained that Mr. Kufuor's government has not shown any interest in the welfare of the citizens of this country, as their interest have always been to impress their foreign collaborators, "the white man is gone only to be replaced our own black people who want to treat us worse than the white man treated us when we were colonised," he said.

President Rawlings urged that those tendencies must be resisted and rejected by the people voting out the NPP neo-colonialist government out of office.

The rally afforded the NDC candidate, Nii Adamah Morrison, to sell his vision for the constituency to his constituents. He promised the constituents selfless, dedicated and development oriented leadership, and promised that even though it has been said that the MP's role is to legislate and not to bring development, he believes that his role include not only articulating the concerns of his constituents in parliament, but also playing a pivotal role in pressurising the authorities in addressing those concerns.

Nii Adamah Morrison said he is always touched by the suffering that the people living at Glefe, Shiabu and other such areas in the constituency have to endure anytime it rained, and promised that, even as he as an individual has been trying to do something to alleviate those sufferings, when he is made the MP for the area he would work tirelessly to help solve those problems as well as many other problems bedevilling his constituents.
