Diaspora (Germany) Cleaning Up Of The Voters Register Will Be Dangerous To Go Into The 2016 Elections
NOV 1, 2015 LISTEN

The EC could have saved the nation money if they had not organized the Forum to discuss about the electoral register. It adopted the wrong procedure to address the concerns of the bloated voters register. And it is not how you decide an important issue such as this.

The current register is bloated, tainted, compromised and corrupted. We can't go with the register, as majority of Ghanaians say they do not want it.

The EC could have taken a proper look at what the problems are and how we are going to address it. To wash away the NPP position about the voters register is unacceptable. The Chair of the EC referred to the NPP's petition to her as Love Letters. Is the EC boss going to expose all the letters she has received since she assumed office? This is a pure exhibition of immaturity and childishness. The EC asked the NPP to bring a copy of the voters register riddled with irregularities. It's surprising, because the EC has copies of the register and it is possible for the commission to see these same irregularities.

The NPP has cited names of about 13,000 Burkinabes in the country's voters register and over 78,000 Togolese nationals. But the EC Chairperson is saying that the appearance of registered voters on the register of other countries was not a basis to remove them from Ghana's register. Even pictures which were scanned to the EC's database is not enough. Charlotte Osei had already made up her mind. Again the outcome of the panel of the Forum will not be objective, when majority of them had already taken entrenched positions on the subject matter. The EC needs to talk to professionals who can evaluate the allegations and then talk to the party leaders on these things.

Charlotte Osei should not forget what she said after assuming office, that she is going to do away with political parties which are not up to the standard as stipulated by the constitution. Why then did the EC invited these mushroom parties which are dead for years to participate in the Forum. Money could have changed hands to resurrect these parties to go and favor the NDC their pay masters.

The EC boss, Charlotte Osei is hiding something. But she must know that countries are fighting not because God hate them or want it to be so, but because they hide, sell the truth for selfish desire.

Ghana is our beloved country and what is needed is to make things right, and again think twice for the future not now. When one have the resources to to buy a new car, why then should the person buy spare parts to repair an old car. The voters register needs to be changed but not to be cleaned.
