Rawlings Will Deepen NDC’s Woes

Mr. Isaac K. Mensah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency chairman for Kade in the Eastern Region, has predicted doom for the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the coming elections if it (NDC) allows former President Rawlings to mount its campaign platforms.

In his doomsday prediction, he said the continuous presence of Chairman Rawlings on the party's flagbearer, Prof. Mills' Campaign platforms would be a strategy that would play well to the advantage of the NPP. Speaking to the 'Gye Nyame Concord' in an interview in Kade over the weekend, the NPP chairman said that this is because there is every indication that most Ghanaians are now fed up with the ex-President and don't take anything from him serious.

According to him, majority of Ghanaians are young enough to remember the atrocious Rawlings' P(NDC) regimes, wondering how “we could go back to the most horrible regime this country has ever experienced” in our chequered history. “Many of us saw the atrocities of his regime and there is no way we will go back.” He swore, stressing that Rawlings' “boom” speeches on his party's campaign trial would over-shadow whatever good issues the Prof. would raise.

On the NDC flagbearer's choice of Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni as his running mate, the NPP chairman said his party would have bordered if it had been the party's Communication's Director and MP for Bole Bamboi, John Dramani Mahama.

To him, the former Communications Minister under the NDC government acquitted himself, therefore the general public's attitude towards John Mahama is cordial than that of (Mumuni) could no way be a threat to the NPP's chances in the up-coming elections
