Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has been subjected to hours of intensive cross-examination by lawyers for judges implicated in the judicial corruption scandal.

A committee set up by the Chief Justice resumed sitting Wednesday after failed attempts to scuttle the process by lawyers caught on video allegedly taking bribes. An Accra High Court yesterday dismissed various suits brought by these judges describing one as frivolous and incompetent.

A total of 22 circuit court and magistrates judges, and 12 high court judges would be investigated by the five-member committee for misconducting themselves in a way that ridicules the judiciary and brings the image of the institution into disrepute.

The key witness Anas Aremeyaw Anas characteristically caused a stir today when he stormed the venue for the hearing with two of his clones. He indeed succeeded in confusing committee members as well as curious journalists prying at the corridors of the Judicial Service.

Since the committee started sitting, the undercover journalist has been the only member of the Tiger Eye PI who disguises himself to avoid recognition. However, when the police vehicle that has been conveying him to the place pulled up, three hooded fellows with covered faces hopped out.

This stunt left many, especially photojournalists, stunned and confused as to who to pick out as Anas.

Lawyers for the embattled judges who were equally confused said they were determined to cross-examine the three-hooded men.

The New Crusading Guide’s ace investigative journalist has petitioned the Judicial Council to impeach 34 judges who were captured on video allegedly taking bribes. Two of them who were at the High Court has since retired.
