Exhibition of voters register in Central Region suffers low patronage

12.10.2004 LISTEN
By GNA

Elmina, Oct.12, GNA - The exhibition of the provisional voters' register in the Central Region, had started at snail-paced. A visit by the Ghana News Agency to a number of exhibition centres in Cape Coast, Elmina, Bronyibima and Atabaadze communities revealed that few eligible voters had turn out to verify the official records on them.

Mr Ebenezer Hagan, the Kommenda- Edina- Eguafo- Abirem District Electoral Officer, blamed the lackadaisical attitude on the late start of the publicity campaign about the exercise. He however expressed the hope that the exercise would pick up in due course.

There was virtually no complaint from the eligible voters, who patronised the exercise except one Mr Aaron Ackon, who told the GNA that although he registered at the Old Post Office Centre in Elmina, he did not find his photograph beside his name.
