NDC Pushes For Kofi Boakye's Exit
22.09.2015 LISTEN

DCOP Kofi Boakye
VICTORY FOR Mahama 2016, an appendage of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kumasi, has charged President Mahama to quickly remove DCOP Kofi Boakye from the Ashanti Region as police commander in the supreme interest of the NDC.

They alleged that DCOP Kofi Boakye is in bed with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), and that his imposing presence in the region would thwart the NDC's efforts to amass one million votes in the region in the 2016 polls to help President Mahama remain in power.

Abdul Rashid, who signed a news release issued by the NDC group, said all NDC-planned demonstrations in Kumasi since DCOP Kofi Boakye arrived in the region  either received strict guidelines or rejection, whilst those of the NPP always enjoyed total support from the police.

He however commended the Greater Accra Police Command for openly manhandling scores of people who took part in the Let My Vote Count Alliance demonstration in Accra.

Abdul Rashid claimed that all organised NPP demonstrations in Kumasi in recent times had resulted in lawlessness and chaos but DCOP Kofi Boakye strangely refused to apply excessive force on the demonstrators due to his love for the NPP.

According to him, his group and other NDC groupings in the region have continually tasked President Mahama to reassign DCOP Kofi Boakye to help the NDC amass more votes in the Ashanti Region but their request seemed to have fallen on deaf ears, stressing that this is bad for the NDC.

'We are just forced to believe DCOP Kofi Boakye is in bed with the NPP and we are amazed that President Mahama has not listened to all calls for him to be reassigned away from the Ashanti Region.

'It is unfortunate the president has not acted on our petition to him to reassign him for the sake of our one million vote target in the Ashanti Region. It is really sad because we find this as a matter of urgent need,' he said.

Abdul Rashid commended the Greater Accra Regional Police Command for not succumbing to the lawless acts of the Let My Vote Count Alliance demonstrators in Accra last week, noting that the police were right in beating the demonstrators publicly, and adding, 'we wish DCOP Kofi Boakye would take cue from his colleague in the Greater Accra Region.'
