President Mahama Must Come Clear And Laud On Homosexuality—Patriotic Ghanaians
22.09.2015 LISTEN

The recent canker and the continuous legalization of homosexuality is mind boggling to the majority who uphold the ethics of their religion in high esteem - particularly Christians and Muslims. The recent rule by the Supreme Court of America in favour of the gay and lesbian's right has increased the tempo worldwide.

The superiority of America, Britain and other developed nations over the less developed nations cannot be overlooked since these powerful states are doing everything possible to compel the less developed states to adhere to their call for the legalization of homosexuality.

Not long ago, David Cameron - The British Prime Minister stated that any state that fails to legalize homosexuality would not benefit from their benevolence (aid and grants).

Their argument is on the premises that, gays and lesbians have their right which must not be infringed upon. It is a laudable argument but what they are also failing to acknowledge is the fact that forcing independent states (directly or indirectly) to legalize homosexuality is an infringement upon the sovereignty of the less powerful states.

THE PRESIDENT
Ghana is one of the most influential nations in West African sub-region and for that matter, very influential in the Africa. Many nations are looking up to Ghana before they declare their stands on same sex marriage to the world.

The President of Ghana (H. E. John Mahama) is the former ECOWAS chairman hence has a lot of influence within the sub-region.

Many are those who think that President Mahama support the legalization of same sex marriage due to his close relationship to some known gays and its advocates particularly - Andrew Solomon.

It is alleged that Andrew Solomon supported President Mahama with a huge sum of money in his 2012 presidential bid and they (some gay advocates) are willing to sponsor his 2016 presidential campaign on condition that he (President Mahama) will legalize homosexuality if emerge victorious in the 2016 election.

President Mahama must not say that the Mills government which he was the Vice President was against same sex marriage and for that matter, Mills decision was his decision. That is not an assurance. New King, New Law.

THE BIG QUESTION
WHAT IS ACTUALLY PREVENTING PRESIDENT MAHAMA FROM DECLARING HIS STANDS PUBLICLY?

THE WAY FORWARD
Sovereignty is said to be the supreme characteristic of statehood. Every sovereign state has its own unique features that must not be taken for granted by any other state.

Yes, the developed nations may be powerful though, in the sight of law and international treaties, no nation is above the other nor can undermine the sovereignty of other states.

If President Mahama is truly against homosexuality then we urge and entreat him to criminate the practice.

The constitution of the state speaks silently on homosexuality. If President Mahama is seriously against same sex marriage then they (Mahama's government) must quickly amend the constitution to make the practice offensive and punishable by law.

If President Mugabe and Uhuru Kenyatta have boldly and publicly declared their stand against homosexuality then we want our President to follow suit.

Why is he silent?
President Mahama must speak now!
