Yakoti (U/E), Sept 10, GNA - Dr Vida Nyagre Yakong, Lecturer at the University for Development Studies, who is contesting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries in the Nabdam Constituency, said she stood for the development of the grassroots.

Dr Yakong said this when she submitted her nomination form to the Nabdam Constituency Office of the NDC at Yakoti in the Nabdam District.

She said as member of the community who had contributed a lot to its development, being in Parliament would give her better opportunities to mobilise resources to continue the development process.

'I have lived with you all this while and know your problems. Going to Parliament means having much higher opportunities to mobilise more resources to establish many more projects to enrich the community for better quality of life,' she told the teaming delegates and party supporters.

Dr Yakong cited the Ghana Rural Opportunities for Women (GROW) as one of the projects she had brought to the constituency where she had registered 650 women and supporting them with micro loans, grinding mills, goats for rearing and donkey carts.

On education, she said she had sponsored about 130 girls and boys to have tertiary education.

Dr Yakong appealed to the delegates to give her the nod to continue bringing more development to the area and facilitate the construction of dams for dry season farming to help provide employment to the youth.
