Nkoranza, Sept. 10, GNA - Thousands of people participated in the 10th National Sanitation Day exercise on Saturday at Nkoranza in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
They included personnel from the Ghana Police Service (GPS), Ghana Health Service (GHS), traditional rulers, truck pushers, market women, members of transport unions, tailors and dressmakers, Workers of the two local Radio FM Stations (Jerryson and Akyaa), Bankers and workers of Zoomlion Company, a sanitation and waste management company.
They swept the streets, cleaned gutters and cleared bushy surroundings at some areas in the Nkoranza Township, to ensure effective coordination.
They were divided into five groups responsible for specific locations and suburbs.
At each of the working spots, sanitation vehicles of the Zoomlion Company followed and conveyed swept rubbish to an appropriate dumping site, to avoid the rubbish returning into the gutters during rainfall.
Addressing the participants after the exercise, Madam Stella Amoatemaa, the Municipal Chief Executive, expressed appreciation to residents of Nkoranza for actively participating.
She thanked the youth of the town for listening to the advice of the Regional Security Council, as well as chiefs and elders of Nkoranza, which resulted in the peaceful organization of the exercise.
