Kyidomhene providing accommodation for police

Beposo (Ash), Oct 6, GNA - Nana Kwadwo Aning, Kyidomhene of the Beposo traditional area in the Sekyere West district of Ashanti is constructing four-unit accommodation facility estimated at about 300 million cedis for the Beposo police to ease the accommodation problem facing them.

The Kyidomhene has already provided a set of office furniture valued at three million cedis for the police.

Nana Akwasi Amankwaah, Chairman of the Beposo Town Council, last Monday performed the sod-cutting ceremony for work on the construction of the bungalows to begin.

He commended the Kyidomhene for his selflessness and said Beposo was a big town, which needed more police personnel to ensure peace and security but regretted that there were only six police personnel in the town.

Two of the personnel, Nana amankwaah said, stay in rented houses and are always being threatened with ejection by the landlords.

That is why, he said, the decision by Nana Aning to construct the accommodation for the police in the town was highly commendable and must be emulated by other well-endowed citizens of Beposo.

The town Council chairman said the Kyidomhene has also provided six teachers' tables and chairs, costing about 1.5 million cedis for the Boamah Kwabi Junior Secondary School, two packets of roofing sheets, 'wawa' boards and nails valued at two million cedis to rehabilitate the roof of two classrooms of the same school.

He said Nana Aning was also providing electric bulbs for the rehabilitation of the streetlights in the town. He and also commemded people like Alhaji Mahama Amponsah, Dr K.K. Sarpong and Dr Thomas Fokuo Agyapong and other citizens of the town who were contributing to the development of the town in various ways.

Nana Aning, who is also the Managing Director of KAMOT Company, dealers in used vehicles and parts in Kumasi said time had come for individuals and groups of people who had the means to help in the development of the country in general and their towns in particular to supplement the efforts of the government and district assemblies.
