Driving related incidents are still the single largest cause of fatalities in the oil and gas industry. Every 30 seconds someone, somewhere, dies in a road crash, and ten are seriously injured. In 2014 around 1.3m deaths were caused by a road accident.

Leaders in Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) services to the energy industry, Stirling Group, is on a mission to reduce these shocking numbers with its advanced and defensive driver training which has just been accredited by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

This official seal of approval from RoSPA demonstrates that Stirling Group’s driving courses successfully meet a range of rigorous professional standards for the needs of the global energy industry, including how training is delivered, the certification of trainers, and the quality of facilities.

Stirling Group’s driver training services are led by an internationally qualified advanced driver training instructor, who has attained the elite status of RoSPA Master Trainer and Examiner - a qualification reserved for less than 10 defensive and advanced driver trainers worldwide.

The organisation, which operates in 25 countries with offices in UK, Kurdistan, Algeria, Iraq, Malaysia, Australia and headquartered in the UAE joins a small number of RoSPA certified organisations delivering B6 Armoured Car, B6 Armoured Personnel Carrier, Small Bus, and Van safety courses.

Mr. Simon Williams, Stirling Group’s global director for safe journey management said: “This is a great addition to our current accreditations and reinforces our commitment to providing a full range of industry recognised qualifications to help organisations reduce risk and increase safety performance.

“RoSPA has been at the heart of accident prevention in the UK and around the world for almost 100 years. With its extensive expertise in road safety, RoSPA is internationally recognised as the foremost authority in this field. Having attained worldwide accreditation from such a reputable organisation it clearly demonstrates the leading standards applied by Stirling Group in delivering best in class driver training.”

This recent achievement sees Stirling Group being internationally accredited to deliver Basic Road Safety, 4 x 4 & Off-Road, and Driver Development training anywhere in the world. Stirling Group delivers ISO compliant defensive and advanced driver training to the highest industry standards with course material, training methods, and course administration procedures assessed and graded by RoSPA.

“We are continually tailoring our training courses to ensure compliance in the hazardous, high-risk and hostile environments in which our customers operate. The RoSPA accreditation supports our drive to become the leading training provider in this field, as we continue to gain industry leading accreditations to develop and deliver high-quality training programmes essential for operations in the energy sector. We are proud to have some of the most highly qualified personnel in the defensive and advanced driver training sectors.” said Mr Cory Fee, Stirling Group’s regional manager for safe journey management.

Stirling Group also delivers OFQUAL regulated, L2 First Aid at Work, and L3 Health and Safety in the workplace training.

Stirling Group prides itself on gaining industry leading accreditations to develop and deliver high-quality training programmes essential for operations in the energy sector. Accreditations include: NEBOSH, IOSH, Industry Qualifications (IQ), Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC), ISOQAR, Pearson, DECC (oil spill) and OPITO.
